In a metropolis largely defined by the vibrant art culture it plays host to, there's bound to be some great and enormous art events teeming throughout all corners of the city.

Austin is definitely no exception, especially when it plays host to the 2011 Fall Pecan Street Festival, the largest art festival in Central Texas, now celebrating its 33rd year of existence.

The Fall Pecan Street Fest takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 25th-26th and goes from 11 a.m. till 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. till 8 p.m. on Sunday. Best of all, admission is completely FREE.

The Real Pecan Street was one of the first streets in Austin, but is now known to most as 6th Street. That doesn't stop the tons of artists, vendors, and festival-goers from celebrating the old traditions of their beloved town at this bi-annual (spring and fall) fest.

Enjoy live music on five stages from great local musicians in the city many deem the live music capital of the world. Or, shop the tons of paintings, sculptures, woodwork, candles, jewelry, cowboy hats, home decor, games, and other artful items all crafted by local artisans and merchants.

Proceeds go to local non-profit organizations like the Livestrong Foundation, the Austin Blues Society, the Knights of Columbus, and Oak Springs Elementary School. $43 million was generated in economic impact at the last festival alone.

Other attractions include food from vendors across Austin and the world's largest touring grill by Johnsonville. Kids will enjoy the petting zoo and carnival rides while you can train the pooch at the "Sit Means Sit" dog training exhibit if you so please.

There's an eclectic selection of things to do at the Pecan Street Festival to say the least. Pick a day, pack up, and explore Central Texas' largest art festival for yourself!
