Mother's Day is coming soon on Sunday, May 13th and families are looking for something different to do with Mom this year. We've gathered a few ideas to help you celebrate. Regardless of how you celebrate, be sure to show Mom how much your care!

Outdoor picnic

Put together a basket full of mom's favorite selections from your local grocery store or to-go restaurant. Grab a blanket and spend a few hours with your mother and Mother Nature. The weather is looking promising! Or stay home and enjoy the backyard with the whole family.

Zilker Gardens

Buying mom flowers is always a nice idea, but you could also take her out to the Zilker Gardens. Stroll through the many gardens while spending quality time with mom. And it makes for great photo opportunities (which you should print and frame for her later, of course)!

Blanton Museum of Art

Show mom some culture and treat her to the beauty of art. Open from 1-5pm on Sundays, the Blanton Museum offers featured and pop-up events. Currently featuring James Drake: Tongue-Cut Sparrows through May 20 and Clarissa Tossin: Meeting of the Waters through July 1st.

Victorian Tea at the Driskill

Mother's Day Victorian tea complete with champagne, tea, scones, traditional tea sandwiches, pastries and petit fours. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 512-391-7227. Afternoon Tea is served at 3 p.m. in The Driskoll lobby. Event pricing is $60 for adults and $40 for children age 12 and younger, plus tax and gratuity.

Mother's Day Brunches in Austin

There are numerous buffets available so mom won't have to cook on her special day. Be sure to make a reservation though to avoid long waits. If mom would prefer lunch or dinner, check out this list of restaurants

Sweets for the Sweet

Pick up some special doughnuts that are sure to please mom's sweet tooth. With a large variety to choose from, you'll find something that's simply perfect for your mama.

Create a Masterpiece

Paint mom something she'll proudly display. Painting with a Twist is hosting several Mother's Day sessions but you must register in advance. Seating is limited, so don't delay! They're offering My Sunshine from 11 a.m.-12:30, Happy Hydrangeas from 2-5 p.m., Mason Jar Cherry Blossoms from 3-5 p.m., and You Make Me Happy and Sunflowers, both from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Music at the Capital

Give mom the gift of music and take her to listen to the Austin Symphonic Band at the Texas Capitol on the South Steps from 7-8 p.m.
