Hey all you hep cats and kittens out there, the annual Lonestar Round Up Hot Rod and Custom Car Show is hitting town this weekend. Every year around this time The Travis Co. Expo Center fills up with grease monkeys, rockabillies, kustom kulture crazies, cholos, vatos, and even us regular folks to check out one of the most massive car shows in the country.

You’ll see traditional cars, custom hotrods, ratrods, lowriders, and more. There will be vendors on hand with hotrod related art, custom pin-striping, food, and a swap meet for you to sell stuff you don’t need or find that missing piece for your ride. If you’re looking for a new vintage ride there’s also a car corral with cars for sale, 1963 and older only though. And if that’s not enough for you there’s music, parties, cruise nights, an art show and all kinds of other fun stuff to get into.

Friday afternoon entertainment includes some of Austin’s favorite performers, Herman the German, a surf-polka dude you have to see to believe, Telecaster terror and former Merle Haggard guitarist Redd Volkaert who can pick a Tele like nobody’s business, honky-tonk hero Dale Watson, and the R&B powerhouse singer Jai Malano.

Late night Friday head out to Giddy Up’s in Manchaca for the Giddy Up Git Down, head out to Austin Speed Shop for the Hop Up Magazine launch party, or cruise to Top Notch for old-fashioned drive-thru burgers and hotrod movies after dark.

Saturday afternoon’s music lineup features not one, but TWO Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members. The original paisley Telecaster master, former guitar player for Ricky Nelson, Emmy Lou Harris’ Hot Band, Gram Parsons, and ELVIS! Mr. James Burton himself. Later on the Queen of Rockabilly, Ms. Wanda Jackson will be belting out some of her legendary hits.

Later that night another party at the Austin Speed Shop with the legendary blues/rockabilly stylings of The Paladins, which is sure to be hoppin’. Top Notch is also another choice for those that prefer a more laid back Saturday night.

Sunday the car show is over, but there is an afternoon cruise out to Oasis Brewing Company from 10am-3pm and later that evening an open house to check out Mercury Charlie’s new shop with entertainment by none other than Junior Brown the world’s only guit-steel player. If you haven’t see Junior play then you need to get out there and check it out!
