A staple of the rock and roll music scene, Pitchfork magazine is throwing their annual two-day Pitchfork Parties at the House of Vans at Mohawk on 912 Red River St. The Pitchfork Parties are on Wednesday, March 18 and Thursday, March 19th. The shows are entirely free and start promptly at high noon, but this is definitely one of those events that you need to show up super early for. If you’re SXSW savvy then you know with just about every free show during SXSW the lines will get real long, real quick. The great thing about the Pitchfork Parties is that they are all ages and open to the public, that’s right folks, no SXSW badges or RSVP needed!!!

The Mohawk has two stages a small outdoor amphitheater and a more intimate indoor stage. There’s also a VIP area, but you’ll have to figure out how to finagle that one on your own! This year they have quite the lineup featuring Arcade Fire’s Will and Win Butler each performing separately also performing are Torres, Lydia Ainsworth, Hundred Waters and more.
