When it comes to outdoor activities in and around the Austin, Texas area, you've got plenty of options for a fun, outdoor experience that won't leave you broke or bored once the day's over.

One of the most popular outdoor attractions in the greater Austin area is Barton Springs Pool, located just outside the city center in beautiful Zilker Park.

Barton Springs Pool is a whopping three acres in size, meaning there's plenty of room for everyone, and it's fed from underground springs touting an average temperature of 68 degrees year-round.  It's a perfect, family-friendly destination which welcomes kids and adults of all ages year round.

Barton Springs Pool is opened from Fridays through Wednesdays all throughout the year and is typically closed on Thursdays for cleaning.  When open, Barton Springs Pool is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a lifeguard on duty from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.

Admission to the pool is free from November through mid March, but from mid March to October a small fee of $1 to $3 is required for entry or continued access after 9:00 a.m.

The pool is also surrounded by beautiful grassy slopes perfect for sunbathing.  Watch out though, topless sunbathing is legal in Austin.
