The Connection Coalition Outreach Certification with Claire Santos The Connection Coalition (formerly known as Yoga Gangsters) certification is for anyone who would like to provide outreach yoga programming at schools, shelters, rehab facilities, or through other non- profit organizations. Working with these populations requires specific skills and awareness so that you can connect with the youth through yoga while providing messages of empowerment, teaching self respect, self awareness and self control.
This 15-hour certification workshop is taught by Claire Santos, on behalf of The Connection Coalition (501c3)
This course will cover:
DIVERSITY
Intro to trauma and how it is held in the body
4 types of students
Showing up and speaking authentically
Appropriate touch
Classroom sequencing, lesson plans & practice teaching
The Connection Coalition offers free programming throughout the country working within the juvenile justice system, with Title 1 schools, foster youth centers, homeless shelters, drug rehabs, residential facilities, hospitals and other non-profit organizations. As of September 2013, our programming has reached 15k kids, nationally. We have more than 1600 trained volunteer teachers. We are calling in emerging leaders in existing and new markets who share our desire to serve youth in crisis through yoga.
Certified yoga teachers are welcome as well as yoga lovers who want to serve (yoga teachers certification is NOT required to join our team for volunteer programming). Based in Miami Florida, Claire has been involved with Yoga Gangsters since 2012. She can be seen teaching locally, leading retreats internationally and offering empowering workshops and master classes. Always a student, Claire is blessed to serve as a teacher to new and existing yoga teachers in her community through teacher training and mentoring programs. Her energetic passion to inspire teachers to combine service and yoga is catching and the 15 hours with her has been referred to as “awakening”, “brilliant”, and more.
