An estimated 8% of Americans (24.4 million people) meet the criteria for a diagnosis of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) at any given time.
This means that in a yoga class of 25 students, it is likely that 2 of them are experiencing active trauma reactions and PTSD symptoms.
During this sixhour training, divided into three, twohour sessions, Nityda Bhakti, licensed traumainformed psychotherapist and yoga teacher will give you the tools to increase your trauma knowledge and empower trauma survivors across settings.
~ Learn the TraumaConscious Framework and how the teacher’s role, voice, and intentions set the stage
~ Practice with “What would you do scenarios,” learning how to respond when a student is triggered or has a trauma reaction in class
~ Explore how to translate the TraumaConscious perspective across settings, from yoga studio, to classroom, hospital, mental health clinic, shelter, prison, etc
*This workshop is designed for yoga teachers, therapists, social workers, and teachers for CEU’s but is open to all who are interested

● Learn: Psychoeducation around trauma, its prevalence, the PTSD diagnosis and other anxietyrelated issues that can arise in yoga, agency and clinical settings
● Experience: Teaching from the Traumainformed Framework (the gentle, choiceoriented approach)
● how the teacher’s role and intentions set the stage
● language
○ creating a survivorrespectful environment
● Explore: “What would you do?” sample scenarios
○ problem solving and role play
■ ex: learn how to recognize if a student is triggered and how to respond
● Elevate Consciousness:Using mindfulness as a tool to keep us aware, take care of ourselves, and empower our students
○ How the tenets of mindfulness inform our conscious awareness in leading a
trauma informed class and how offering these tools to trauma survivors aids them in their healing journey
