Description
Ring in the season at the annual Holiday Sing-Along and Downtown Stroll on Saturday, December 2 from 5-9pm. This free, family-friendly event celebrates the arrival of the holiday season and the joy it brings.
Event Details
Enjoy live music from Austin favorites like RIDERS AGAINST the STORM (RAS), Gina Chavez, Charlie Faye & The Fayettes, Jane Ellen Bryant, David Hexum (DJ Hexum) and more. Plus, shop at a special night market brought to you by Sustainable Food Center, see the lighting of the downtown tree, experience Rapt Aerial Dance performances throughout the night and take photos with Santa at the Vannagram Winter Wonderland.
The fun starts with live music on two stages on Congress Avenue followed by a Sing-along at 6 p.m. on the south steps of the Capitol featuring songs of the season with KUTX 98.9 music hosts John Aielli and Elizabeth McQueen.
As the clock strikes 7 p.m., the countdown to the lighting of the downtown tree begins, featuring a programmed light show at the top and bottom of every hour, set to holiday songs of local Austin musicians.
From 5 to 9 p.m. Congress Avenue will be abuzz with holiday cheer during the Downtown Stroll. Shops, restaurants, galleries, and museums will also be open late and will feature special activities and offers.
The Central Texas Food Bank is accepting non-perishable food donations at each event entrance, as well as monetary donations at the staffed Food Bank tent, located near 1005 Congress. Last year’s event raised more than 1,400 meals for Central Texans facing hunger; over the last five years, it’s raised more than 9,800 meals.
