Learn about the Texas 1835-1836 brave fight for independence from Mexico in less than an hour from actors portraying Oakwood Cemetery "residents"
Event Details
Free 45 minute walking tours start 10am-1pm near the newly restored Oakwood chapel. Hear the heroic stories of Oakwood “residents” who fought in the battles of the Revolution, survived the Alamo, escaped the Goliad massacre, and helped found the Texas Republic.
Kids under adult supervision are welcome, but please leave your pets at home and wear closed-toed shoes. The event is sponsored by Save Austin's Cemeteries, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Austin’s historic cemeteries in partnership with the City of Austin. Donations for the tour are welcome to support preservation projects.
