Closed toed shoes (tennis shoes are fine)
Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, appropriate clothing)
Bug spray
Snacks
Meeting location within the park: We will meet at the small log cabin that is a little ways down the main park road on the right. There is a small parking lot there as well as parking along the road. It is recommended that vehicles with lower clearance park along the road.
Guest Presenter: Alice incorporates nature-based therapy, wilderness therapy, yoga/mindfulness, and expressive art therapy into work with clients by weaving in connection to the natural world. We are a part of the natural world, and being in relationship with natural beings helps us to see our inner wisdom. She has been working with teens for 6 years in various therapeutic settings. She has experience taking teens struggling with substance use backpacking in Colorado, hiking in various spaces throughout Austin, and spending time in the natural spaces on the school grounds she works in. Currently, she works at the Phoenix Center in Marble Falls, TX. This agency specializes in working with children ages 3-18 who have experienced trauma. They present expressive arts such as music, play, art, yoga and nature-based activities. They recently built a ropes course on our 87 acres of land, and Alice has seen the positive impact of adventure therapy with teens, children and their families. She received her nature-based therapy training from The Somatic Wilderness Therapy Institute in Colorado, and she is thrilled to share my knowledge and experience the natural world with the TEC.
