Coffee Chats feature leaders in the creative community sharing their personal and professional experiences to inspire others pursuing careers in art.
Michelle Mayer is an artist and Texas native living and working in New York City since 2008. Her work deals with feminist perspectives on disembodied nature, time, and the balance of life on Earth. Playing with the uncanny, reflecting on human interface with the natural world and the often flawed hierarchical narratives repeated through time.
Her art practice is focused on creating conceptually rooted work using a variety of mediums, including ceramics, sculpture, painting, animation, video, installation, and performance to encourage an empathetic reframing of our bodies and nature, an opening up, a disarmament as call to arms. She is also a mom to two young boys.
