Event Details
Lost River Film Festival, a four-day gathering held at venues across Downtown San Marcos, Texas & on the campus of Texas State University, returns for it's second year Nov. 1st -4th, 2018, to spotlight & celebrate independent cinema. The fest starts as Austin Film Festival wraps up and is just a short 30 miles drive south. In its first year the festival had over 1500 attendees throughout the four days.
The film fest is presented by San Marcos Cinema Club, the 501c3 film society of the nation’s fastest growing town of its size — whom the San Marcos Arts Commission selected for its prestigious 2016 SMarts Award.
Lost River Film Festival — titled for our town’s fictional name in the campy, locally shot,1978 horror film PIRANHA — will feature a mix of short films, features & web content, yielded from an open call for submissions, in addition to workshops, interactive events, a concert & networking events.
Opening night features a special screening of Mike Judge's IDIOCRACY along with selected shorts and an opening reception.
The fest will again include WHEELZ N' REELZ on Sat., Nov. 4th featuring champion BMX riders, roller derby & unicycle demos, live music, vendors & specially curated short films.
