The festival, now in its 8th consecutive year features the some of the world’s premier “psychedelic” and experimental bands. This year’s lineup is pretty mind-blowing, with Austin’s own 13th Floor Elevators, early purveyors of psychedelic music in the US and arguably the first truly psychedelic band to come out of Texas, which features the legendary Roky Erikson.
Other headliners include the Flaming Lips whose outlandish stage show never fails to impress and seminal 80’s Alt-Rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain who will be performing their first record, Psychcandy in it’s entirety, and of course festival organizers The Black Angels.
The festival has three different stages; the Reverberation Stage a huge stage for the most popular acts, the Levitation Tent, which has a great system for projecting psychedelic images on a screen behind the performers and a natural outdoor amphitheater located along an idyllic river. Levitation also has very cool vendors hawking all types of wares. For those that like to party late into the night and immerse themselves into the experience Levitation offers on-site camping.
Levitation will be held May 8th, 9th, and 10th at Carson Creek Ranch.
