Who & When
Our local host, the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) says, “Come on Down,” to our Spring 2020 Southwest Regional Convening in Austin from March 4 to 6.
Join with HUD leaders from Washington and elsewhere, state and local housing officials, experienced PHA practitioners and their partners, as well as other PHAs assessing how RAD and other HUD tools might help them address local challenges and tap new opportunities.
What—Preliminary Agenda
Day 1—RAD in Austin & Southwest (~1P to 7P)
• HACA portfolio re-positioning, collaborations and agency-building for the future.
• Other PHAs, their partners, and state and local officials around the Southwest using RAD as a redevelopment and agency springboard.
• Austin welcoming & networking reception.
Day 2—Latest Practices with RAD & Beyond (~8:30A to 5P)
• Optimizing the latest RAD notice revisions and recent Section 18 flexibilities with HUD’s Tom Davis, Greg Byrne and Jane Hornstein.
• Practitioner perspectives on tools and resources for portfolio repositioning, challenging projects, green building and more.
• Going beyond RAD in mixed-income/mixed use, green and healthy construction, community-building initiatives and cross-sector collaborations with health care, education, employment and other partners.
• PHA operational realities and transitions in converting inventories to a Section 8/LIHTC platform.
• Explore more of Austin’s fun food scene and nightlife.
Day 3—RAD & More Ahead (~8:30A to 12 Noon)
• Varied forums for those both new to RAD and already using it to review planning, redevelopment and portfolio repositioning efforts with HUD leaders, PHA colleagues and leading industry partners.
• Wrap up—what’s ahead for RAD & affordable housing in 2020?
