Christmas in Austin means malls are gearing up for the holiday season with a host of events that make things extra special for their customers. From kickoff parties to Santa meet-and-greets, these malls in Austin are ready to get in the festive spirit.

Events

Santa is already making daily appearances at the Barton Springs Mall through December 24. He's available for family photos most days between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Mall-goers also have the opportunity to book a FastPass in advance and skip the line to meet jolly, ol' Saint Nick. 

There are two special Sundays when your four-legged friends are able to come to visit Santa. He will be taking pet photos on November 18 and December 9 from 7:30 p.m .to 9 p.m. 

Children with special needs will have the opportunity to get a picture with Caring Santa on December 2. This free event is taking place at the entrance between The Cheesecake Factory and AMC Theaters. The staff on hand will make the necessary changes to the environment to accommodate children with various sensory, physical, and developmental needs. 

One Barton Springs Mall tenant is also offering a way for shoppers to give back this holiday season. Vera Bradley is accepting all non-perishable food items and offering a 15% in-store discount.

Events

The Domain is kicking things off with a special Holiday Launch Party on November 17 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Come out to the lawn area between Dillard's and Dick's Sporting Goods for a family-friendly event that will include face painting, balloon twisting, games, crafts, and more. There will be a special performance by Mister G at 5 p.m., and the first light show of the season takes place between the two stores at 6 p.m. 

Santa will also be at the mall for family photos through Christmas Eve. Times vary on his appearances, so check the mall's website for more details. 

On December 2, Santa is inviting all pets to join him at The Domain and will take photos with your furry friend from 6 p.m. 8 p.m.

Events

The holiday season at Hill Country Galleria officially starts on November 22 with a tree lighting and the arrival of Santa. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. at the outdoor Central Plaza. There will be a boatload of children's activities like face painting, and Echosmith will be providing live music at 7 p.m. 

Kids can get their photos taken with Santa right across from Central Plaza every day from November 24 to December 24. For the first two weeks, Santa's Wonderland will be open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends, but after December 8, it will be open every day through Christmas Eve from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On December 1, those looking for a fun fitness activity can head to the Galleria for the Bee County Chamber of Commerce 5K Jingle Bell Run. There's a kid's run at 7:45 a.m. followed by the timed 5K at 8 a.m. In addition to the race, there will also be live music, food and beverages, swag bags, and a costume contest. 

The following day, the mall will be hosting their Santa Cares Event. Kids with various special needs are invited to attend a special private photo session with Santa from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

Adults will enjoy one of the Galleria's highlight events of the Christmas season, the Holiday Wine Walk on December 13. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., you can shop different stores throughout the mall while tasting wines from around the world. The walk starts at Twin Liquors where participants can pick up a map that will guide them on their journey.

The Lakeline Mall is offering ample opportunities to get photos with Santa through Christmas Eve. While Saint Nick will be atop his throne each day, times do vary, so check with the mall before running out to let your kids share their Christmas wishes. 

On December 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Caring Santa will hold a private photo session for children with disabilities. The Lakeline Mall will make accommodations for kids who have sensory, physical, and other developmental needs. 

Pets can also come to get their photos taken with Santa on Sunday, December 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
