Some say the best things about New Year's Eve are the champagne, the crazy parties, and having a new year to reinvent yourself. For us, watching the fireworks is one of the best things about the holiday, and, luckily, there are plenty of places to see fireworks on New Year's Eve in Austin.

Barton Creek Square

Barton Creek Mall is easily one of the best spots to see fireworks in Austin because you have a birds-eye-view of the entire city. You can see the fireworks from downtown as well as from anywhere else having a fireworks show. The best thing about this location is the parking as you'll have little to no trouble finding a spot. Load up your car and hit up the mall this New Year's Eve and watch the fireworks from all over Austin.

Zilker Park

Located right outside of downtown Austin, Zilker Park is one of the best parks in Austin to catch the fireworks display. There's plenty of soft grass to lay out a blanket and lie down as you watch the explosions in the sky. However, be sure to get there early because there will be lots of other people basking in the park's beautiful scenery.

360 Bridge Overlook

If you follow any Austinites on Instagram, chances are they have a photo from this Austin viewpoint. Whether you're watching fireworks or not, this overlook provides a breathtaking view of the hill countryside of Austin. Check out one of Austin's most photographed spots this New Year's Eve and make the hike up the 360 overlook hill. Protip: get there early because parking and space on the hill are limited!

Auditorium Shores

What's better than fireworks? Fireworks with live music, of course! If you're looking for the absolute best spot to watch the Downtown Austin fireworks display, then you need to visit Auditorium Shores. The venue will have 15 local bands, food trucks, art installations, and a front-row seat to the city's best fireworks display. With options like these, it's hard to pass up these New Year's Eve fireworks in Austin.

St. Edward's University

St. Edward's University grounds give a panoramic view of the Auditorium Shores. The off-beat location is best for watching colorful fireworks at midnight. You can bring your family members, friends, and children to quietly witness the welcome of 2024. You can bring in eatables, and drinks and watch the marvelous fireworks around. Also, a picnic blanket or lawn chair, or a plan to commandeer the bleachers will be helpful. Expect students and a few locals in this location because it's one of the most loved NYE points.

Wherever you choose to watch fireworks this New Year's Eve in Austin, just remember that higher ground and more open spaces are key to seeing a spectacular sky full of light and color.
