Hal Smith and the On the Levee Jazz Band

Austin, we have a rare treat in store for you! ATJS is presenting Hal Smith's On the Levee Jazz Band on Jan. 6. This Kid Ory tribute band takes its name from a San Francisco nightclub owned by Kid Ory from 1958 – 1961.

The well-blended front line of Clint Baker, Ben Polcer and Joe Goldberg backed by the New Orleans swing of Hal Smith, Kris Tokarski, Joshua Gouzy and Alex Belhaj produces a sound that pays homage to the Kid Ory tradition, but with fresh ideas from the individual musicians.

The band delights in playing danceable music from a traditional repertoire that includes stomps, rags, marches, blues and vintage popular songs. The band will be coming off their appearance at the San Diego Jazz Festival. Please join us on Sunday, January 6 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Cap City Comedy Club for this very special performance.

The doors open at 1 pm.
