Join formerly incarcerated and system-impacted advocates for From Prison to Power, where we bring together people with lived experience in the criminal punishment system to learn about advocating for change.
Event Details
Have you ever been arrested? Incarcerated? On community supervision? Or do you have a loved one who has? Join us to hear from leaders across Texas who have been in your shoes, and learn to use your voice to make change!
Speakers will introduce you to the landscape around justice reform in the Austin area, including youth justice and women's justice, and easy ways to get involved. The event will also feature community leaders, local organizations, voter registration information and resources, and information about record clearing.
Hosted by the Statewide Leadership Council (SLC), a group of formerly incarcerated and system-impacted advocates working for meaningful change to the INjustice system. In addition to events across the state, the SLC holds monthly open meetings for impacted people who want to get involved! The SLC is sponsored by the Texas Center for Justice and Equity.
