Mexic-Arte Museum is hosting its first Pop-Up Pulga at the height of SXSW in downtown Austin. The Pop-Up Pulga provides the hybrid experience of a mercado and art bazaar with original art from Austin and Texas artists, Screen It! demos, folk art, t-shirts, and lots of specialty Latina/o artworks under $100.
The Pop-Up Pulga is Mexic-Arte Museum’s first eclectic arts marketplace held inside the Museum during the mid-point of SXSW. Join us for an art bazaar, local artist booths, delicious food, and live music performed by musicians from Mexico and around the U.S. Pulga is the Spanish word for flea and regularly used as a name for flea markets and mercados in Mexico. Come see Latina/o artists from all disciplines together in one grand showcase as we enliven the Austin community through the presentation and celebration of Latina/o arts and culture! This event is FREE and open to the public.
Music by Latino Hip-Hop artist Aggie, INCA, and Cumbiasazo (3/19).
Artist Booths with Colectiva Cosmica, Very That, INCA (Institute Native Culture Amerindian), Mayan Expressions, Claudio Lopez, Sweet Danny, and more!
WiFi Café with all-day internet access as well as Mexican sodas, snacks, and paletas.
