Texans for the Arts Foundation's Texas Arts Advocacy Day 2019 held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 is a day not to be missed!
Join arts leaders and citizen activists from across the state, as we gather to learn, share, and participate in the democratic process! Everyone has a story about how the arts make a difference in their own lives, in that of their families, and in their communities. Your voice (and your vote!) are the most important tools that you have in speaking up about the importance of investing public resources in the arts across our towns, cities, regions, state and nation.
At Texas Arts Advocacy Day, learn how to put your passion about the arts into constructive and informative advocacy, through orientation, training, and more. Plus, Texans for the Arts Foundation will provide materials for you to leave with your legislators on the issues most important to all of us: increasing public support for the arts.
As artists, arts administrators, board members, and citizens interested in the arts, you are already advocating every day through your work. Join us as we demystify arts advocacy and set attendees off on productive and rewarding visits with their legislators at the State Capitol.
The schedule for the day is:
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Training, Keynote, Program (with time for a boxed lunch and music in the Rotunda)
2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Visits with Legislators
5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Happy Hour!
The $35 registration fee ($20 for students) includes lunch, training, coordinating legislative visits and the evening reception. Updates on speakers and the Arts Advocacy Day 2019 agenda will be posted at www.texansforthearts.com
Coming from out of town and need a hotel? Texans for the Arts Foundation is partnering with the Hampton Inn & Suite at the University/Capitol, 1701 Lavaca Street, Austin, 78701 for Monday, February 4-Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Singles/doubles are $199@night.
